Learning is a two-task process: Receiving of new knowledge and integrating this new knowledge with previous knowledge (schema theory). You learn best when these tasks are well orchestrated or synchronized: the speed, at which the new knowledge flows into your brain, should be aligned with the speed at which your brain retrieves previous knowledge from long-term memory and integrates it with the new knowledge. No one can master this synchronization, but you. Learn-Smartly gives you the ability to orchestrate your learning tasks by relying on reading as main source of knowledge.

Fully active learning

You can master your learning, only when you are active. Learn-Smartly is a platform for fully active learning. All lessons are presented as learning activities where you need to read, think, search, and solve problems.

Embedded Scaffolding

Independent online learning is hard when something gets tough and you need the expert support. How much scaffolding do you need on this way to proceed without frustration? The content on Learn-Smartly is designed in a way that minimizes the need for external scaffolding. The learning activity is broken into smaller steps. When you cannot manage one step, you get the solution with clarification so that you can proceed to the next step.

What is the right time to check if you have learned
what you should learn?  Evaluation of learning should be an integral part of the learning process. With its problem-based learning style, Learn-Smartly inherently supports immediate feedback.

Technology? Sure, but Pedagogy first

The capabilities of today’s technology are amazing. But are we using them to support learning truly? Have we thought about pedagogical aspects before searching for technology features to support them? Or we just used to the technology to accommodate learning content? Learn-Smartly is pedagogy-driven: we care very much about the pedagogical appropriateness of any technology feature that we are using.
